The Statesman Journal just ran a story I wrote about my friend Phil Gray, one of 1-168's door gunners. The link is below. It is great to see Phil's hometown paper give him some props!
I am back at Shank. I caught a Blackhawk at Bagram, which turned out to be flown by Lt. Col. Robert Ault, TF Brawler's colorful and dynamic commander. "Welcome home, John!" He said to me over the intercom as I settled in. Feels great to be back. Tomorrow, I'll be working on an article about Col. Ault and his very, very unusual aviation task force. Stay tuned!
And to all you out there reading my blog, I want to thank you. Your comments and your readership has made blogging on this trip central to my job out here. So far, we've have almost four thousand visits to the website since the start of October. It means a lot to me, so thank you for reading.
